Hidalgo joins Lake AreaAdventures

Lake Area Adventures took over Erica Hidalgo as director of marketing and business development for all of its business operations, including Lake Area Adventures Family Entertainment Complex at 1337 Country Club Road, boat and kayak tours and rentals, lakefront operations, and several future construction operations.

In his role, Hidalgo will direct and oversee all marketing, events and public relations efforts for Lake Area Adventures. In regards to business development, he will work with companies on corporate memberships for employees, corporate event planning and catering for chef Amanda Cusey’s private events with The Terrace Restaurant at Lake Area Adventures. She will also coordinate group rates for large groups wishing to make use of their facilities.

Hidalgo comes to Lake Area Adventures from Christus Ochsner, where she was director of marketing and communications for 17 years. You previously worked in Business Development for Christus St. Patrick.

Buller Brothers Cattle joins the group

Buller Brothers Cattle Co. in Lake Charles is a new member of the American Angus Association, reports Mark McCully, CEO of the national breed organization based in Saint Joseph, Mo.

The American Angus Association, with more than 22,000 active adult and juvenile members, is the largest cattle association in the world. Its computerized registries include detailed information on over 20 million registered Anguses.

The Association records ancestral information and maintains production records and individual animal genomic data to develop industry-leading breeding tools for its members. The programs and services of the Association and its entities Angus Genetics Inc., Angus Media, Certified Angus Beef LLC and the Angus Foundation help members advance the beef cattle business by selecting the best animals for their herds and commercializing quality for the beef cattle industry and quality beef for consumers.

Johnson appointed to LSBA board of directors

Adam P. Johnsonpartner of The Johnson Firm in Lake Charles, he was named to the 2023-24 Board of Governors for the Louisiana State Bar Association’s 4th district.

He received a 2006 MBA from Louisiana State University and a 2009 JD from Southern University Law Center. He was admitted to practice in Louisiana in 2009.

After working for Judge Robert Wyatt and Judge Ronald Ware, Johnson joined his father Terry and brother Jonathan in legal practice. He and his brother now own The Johnson Firm in Lake Charles. The firm’s lawyers practice family law, criminal defense and personal injury.

Johnson served in the House of Delegates of the Louisiana State Bar Associations. He was a member of the LSBA Leadership Class of 2013-14 and co-chaired the LSBA Leadership Class of 2014-15. From 2015 to 2019, he was a representative of the LSBA Division of Young Lawyers, District 4. He also assists with the writing and grading of the Criminal Law section of the Louisiana Bar Exam.

He is president of the Southwest Louisiana Bar Association and past president of the SWLBA Young Lawyers Division.

Cockroach recognizedof LSBAs YLD

Brooke A. Cockroachan attorney at The Roach law firm in Lake Charles, he was named a 2023-24 member of the Division 4 of the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Young Bar Association for District 4.

Roach received a 2016 BA in Human Resources from Louisiana State University and a 2019 JD, magna cum laude, from Southern University Law Center.

She was admitted to practice in Louisiana in 2019. She served for Chief Justice Ulysses G. Thibodeaux, Louisiana Third Circuit Court of Appeals, from 2019-21.

Roach followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, becoming the third generation to practice law at the Roach Law Firm. His practice focuses on personal injury litigation and first-party bad faith property damage litigation. She is admitted in all Louisiana state courts; the US District Courts for the Western, Middle, and Eastern Districts of Louisiana; and the United States 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.

He is a member of the Southwest Louisiana Bar Association and its Young Lawyers Section, currently serving as treasurer of SWLBAs Young Lawyers Section.

Memorial, CPSB recognized

Lake Charles Memorial Sanitary System Sports medicine department, together with Calcasieu Parish School Councilreceived the Excellence in Health and Safety award from the Louisiana Athletic Trainers Association.

This award honors the longstanding partnership between the LCMHS Sports Medicine Department in recognition of the high level of care provided to CPSB and other surrounding schools on a daily basis.

The athletic training program has continued to serve the community for nearly 50 years. This is the longest running program of its kind in the state. According to Scott Arceneaux, many statewide programs view the Memorials program as the model program in the state.
