How to spend a quiet night stoned in | State Green

The summer season gets hectic. Weekend barbecues, beach vacations, and all the planning that goes into them can get overwhelming. Sometimes, a quiet night at home is the perfect way to rejuvenate after a busy couple of weeks.

When I’m planning an evening, I’ll definitely infuse the evening by enjoying an edible specialty, rolling up a joint, or watching a medicated bath bomb fade away my worries. Here are some of my favorite ways to unwind with the plant during a quiet night at home alone.

Puzzles, playlists and cooking pot

stoned night in: the person does the puzzle

Rolling a joint, stepping off the puzzle board, and firing up my favorite playlist of the moment is a must-have agenda for self-care nights. Growing up, my mother would give me a jigsaw puzzle for every holiday and I would commandeer the dining room table for weeks building the hidden picture between the pieces. The love for this activity has followed me into adulthood, right now I’m doing a gorgeous and difficult piece jigsaw puzzle.

When it’s time to puzzle, I like to have some weed that I can puff a couple of times until it naturally turns off and on again as I arrange the pieces and match the patterns. Look for strains like Blue Dream or Gemstone, something that is a little relaxing but has enough uplifting properties to keep you focused on a mental task. Whether it’s limited edition Stone Road pre-rolls from the dispensary or a blunt filled with some of their own brewing, choosing the right stain is essential.

A new stone can help me understand the nuances of troubleshooting through 1000 pieces. As far as playlists go, Lorem’s recent Spotify update has been on repeat in my house lately.

Books in the bathroom

Rest in the bathroom, calm and mental health. Time for yourself and silence. Female hands holding book. Top view and copy space background with unrecognizable person.

A cup of tea and a good book in the bath is a granny pastime that I’ve strangely enjoyed since I was 8 or 9 years old. Maybe it’s the water in my astrological chart or the memory of my time in the womb. Either way, a bath is a great way to decompress at any age. Add a good book followed by a warm cup of tea, a cold Pilsner or a robust glass of red wine and this is a recipe for relaxation.

It’s also a great time to smoke a joint while infused, and don’t forget that water can be infused too. Bath bombs are fun, fizzy, they enhance a hot bath. Now, companies like Kush Queen add cannabinoids alongside other essential oils to promote relaxation, muscle recovery, and more. Whether you light up or soak in cannabis, it can be appropriate for the bathroom.

Crafts and Comedy

When it’s time to relax and really vibrate, knitting is a great choice. The way working through a knitting pattern eventually hits a subconscious rhythm relieves my anxiety in a very special way.

I’ll often grab a bong and put on my favorite podcast or maybe a comedy special, before giggling through some kind of well-made and decidedly homemade scarf (or beanie or socks). If knitting isn’t your thing, needlepoint, painting, crochet, darning, and a bunch of other crafts would work.

Edibles and video games

How long do edibles last: A photo of green hard candies with a pink light on them.

There was a time in my life when I lived in the Pac Heights neighborhood of San Francisco where I regularly scheduled edibles and Sims nights. I used to order food and weed from the Vapor Room (they usually arrive around the same time). Then I ate the edible I ordered (usually an Om Peanut Butter Puffed Rice Truffle) and delved into my Sims’ worlds.

The timing was symphonic. I cleaned and set things up for the night after placing orders. I ate the edible and when I was done with my dinner it would kick in. Then I was in the perfect headspace to create a little random people reality for a while.

I often romanticize this existence now that I’m at a station in life where I rarely have a night to just vibe. But whether it’s N64 done with my husband or a mini vacation to Sims land after the kids’ bedtime, I still enjoy the new variations on that beloved ritual.

From former inner kid turned outgoing introverted adult, these are some of my favorite ways to spend a quiet, high night at home. While they won’t work for everyone, this list should be enough for people to perfect their own ways of relaxing with the plant.
